Job description:

The successful quantitative researcher candidate will join our London betting solutions team. These solutions entail the development of mathematical, statistical, and AI models and high-performance algorithms; efficient coding; automation of betting operations; data generation, acquisition, storage and manipulation; performance analysis through back-testing and simulations.

We use a variety of programming languages but are standardising on Python for our data analysis and scripting needs.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Take lead in the prototype, test, and deployment of stochastic models to predict market and game outcomes in diverse sports betting markets, utilising a data-driven approach.
  • Develop outcome-oriented trading strategies and statistically backtest their performance
  • Effectively communicate results with clarity and efficiency to traders and other colleagues.
  • Work closely with our data scientists and quantitative developers to design and implement mid-high frequency trading strategies for the public sports exchanges
  • You will be using Python for Quantitative and Data Science focused tasks such as the production of new strategies
  • Acquire data from multiple data sources, filtering, cleaning and wrapping
  • Provide biweekly reports on strategy development
  • Identify, analyse and interpret trends or patterns in complex data set
  • Work within the team to prioritise business and information need
  • Identify process improvement opportunities

Skills / Competencies Required:

  • PhD in Computer Science, Maths or similar STEM discipline
  • Experience of building mathematical or ML data models
  • Be able to work independently and to tight deadlines
  • Experience in data research with strong statistical skills
  • Excellent communication skills, able to understand and translate complex technical information
  • Strong data-mining skills paired up with data analysis skills
  • Experience in software design and development using Python, Pandas and SQL / NoSQL
  • Strong coding background, 3+ years
  • Knowledge of cloud computing platforms, AWS preferably
  • Experience in SQL / NoSQL
  • Experience designing ETL workflows
  • Beneficial knowledge of data science packages, sk-learn, scipy, tensorflow, etc.
